About The Position

The Process Control Engineer Intern position at ASARCO LLC offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the mining industry. This 10-week internship involves training and participation in real-world projects, including programming, data management, and system evaluation, culminating in a presentation to management.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited school or university and currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related degrees.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Program Tankhouse PLC to support new remote rack and connections to substation breakers.
  • Prepare tag names and descriptions for substation breaker data to be saved in Rockwell PI historian database.
  • Modify Distributed Control System (DCS) computer displays to show substation breaker status and operational data.
  • Evaluate assigned field problems (real or theoretical) and report back as required.
  • Meet everyday safety goals.
  • Various other projects as assigned.
