About The Position

The Operations Engineering Services (OES) Process Control Engineer is responsible for the support of the control and monitoring systems for various on-site air separation facilities. This support includes preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting of the advanced process control system hardware, software, and instrumentation. The position will require some small to medium size control system project execution as well. While providing this primary support, the process control engineer will interface with a variety of field, management, and technical personnel. This position will work for our Linde Gases United States (LGUS) Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide (HYCO) business and will report to the HYCO Process Controls Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering with 3 - 5 years of experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic understanding of a batch chemical production process.

Nice To Haves

  • Skillsets that include air separation processes.
  • Control system support and maintenance of PLC based systems in real-time operation.
  • Practical application experience with the Allen Bradley PLC product line (SLC500, PLC5, ControlLogix, etc.).
  • Experience with GE iFIX software.
  • Knowledge of Siemens PCS7/Step 7, Wonderware, and networking including LAN/WAN/Routers.

Responsibilities

  • Work well independently and in a team environment, making technical decisions based on a full awareness of viability, cost, and benefits of developed solutions.
  • Possess a basic understanding of chemical production processes and process control.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with the process control content of P&I diagrams.
  • Have a working knowledge of schematic wiring diagrams.
  • Maintain a primary instrumentation background with emphasis on control system electrical and instrumentation components (valves, analyzers, field sensors, control panels, etc.).
  • Familiarity with control system network architecture.
  • Demonstrate significant technical independence and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  • Exhibit excellent project management skills and leadership in development of control system applications and safety standards.
  • Provide off-hours support as necessary to solve problems during non-working hours.
  • Travel 10-20% as required.
