Our company is one of the most significant publicly traded water, wastewater service and natural gas providers in the U.S. Aqua is seeking an Engineering student to work with a talented team on an extremely diverse set of tasks within Engineering. You will have the chance to spearhead your own projects after shadowing and learning first hand from Engineers with years of experience. This is an opportunity to experience it all from the day to day tasks that an Engineering Generalist does, to the operations and maintenance tasks that are imperative to a company’s success. About: At Aqua, co-op students do not simply sit in an office. Students are actively engaged in a variety of activities where the things they’ve learned in the classroom are brought to life in the field- the best laboratory for the practice of engineering there is. Past students have participated in the following activities: Conducted on site testing and acceptance of fluid machines (blower and pump vibration testing) Participated in bid walk-throughs with contractors Gone to sites to develop operating procedures that are witnessed and tested by the students to validate their results At Aqua, you will be pushed outside their comfort zones since many things students do are outside of the normal office experience. They are challenged to show their flexibility and tenacity in completing assignments since this is a dynamic and fast paced environment consisting of engineering and operations tasks. The culmination of these tasks is a final presentation in front of either the President of Aqua Pennsylvania or the Vice President of Production. The job consists of a combination of field work and inside work that will include the following: Assisting Manager of Mechanical/Electrical/Construction in conducting construction job progress meetings and inspections Resolving construction, operating, & maintenance issues at various facilities Performing design calculations Conducting engineering consultant request for proposal process and construction contractor bid process Assisting the Superintendent of Mechanical & Electrical in managing corrective & preventative maintenance work orders on the Company’s Maintenance Connection (MC) program Performing data entry into the company’s MC program Traveling to various production facilities to obtain specifications for equipment Company vehicle will be provided for work purposes only General administrative duties and record keeping.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Possess valid driver's license
  • Ability to work independently to complete assignments
  • Ability to communicate clearly in speech and writing
  • Knowledge of electrical or mechanical engineering and calculations
  • Willingness to occasionally work in a drinking water plant and construction environment

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD a plus

Responsibilities
