About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is working to once again transform the future of flight—designing, building and servicing engines unlike any the world has ever seen. The East Hartford Repair Operations (EHRO) has an opportunity for Process and Manufacturing Engineering (P3) position within the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) engineering team. As a CTRP Process and Manufacturing Engineering (PME), the incumbent will report directly to the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) Engineering Manager and have responsibility for a subset of hardware flowing through the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) shop floor on our AWW (Alternate Work Week). The successful candidate will be a technical leader to the shop floor and have a hand in day-to-day machining, inspection and thermal spray operations. This position requires regular onsite presence and will support our Alternate Work Week (AWW) operations which runs from 6:00AM to 6:00AM (12hr shifts) Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This role will work a 36-hour work schedule, but is paid for a full week of work (40 hours). Initial training may be required on a different work schedule, likely first shift M-F for up to six (6) months.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience in Engineering, Military, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Aviation industry; OR Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in STEM field; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering fields preferred.
  • Component repair experience utilizing complex machining, particularly in an FAA Repair Station MRO environment.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing process and/or repair process life cycle.
  • Strong technical and functional knowledge of turbine engines and/or Pratt & Whitney products.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data, engine manuals and blueprints.
  • Experience working with CAD/CAM programs, Solumina MES, SAP ERP, and MS Office Suite.
  • Project management experience and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • LEAN, Continuous Improvement, CORE, ACE, Six-Sigma training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including senior level management.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams to achieve business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Being a technical leader focused on the Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) components.
  • Providing technical support daily to the shop floor for any machining, inspection or thermal spray challenges that arise during the repair process.
  • Helping to develop and enforce standardized engineering practices, processes, tools and methods across products under your ownership.
  • Managing projects and participating in CORE business progress, lean manufacturing, project management, quality improvement efforts.
  • Driving on-time delivery and profitability improvements in your business.
  • Selecting and introducing new capital equipment to improve cell business metrics.
