About The Position

As a Procedural Scrub Tech in the Cardiac Cath Lab at UnityPoint Health, you will be a vital member of the interdisciplinary team, contributing your professional knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients undergoing invasive cardiac procedures. You will function within your scope of practice in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and under the direction of Physicians. Your role will involve promoting and restoring patients’ cardiovascular health by collaborating with physicians and the multidisciplinary team while providing physical and psychological support in a holistic manner to patients and their families. You will perform various roles in the Cath Lab setting, including being the primary assistant to the Cardiologist at the sterile table, secondary circulating, and monitoring. This position requires being on call for off-shifts and weekends, with a requirement to meet standby call, which includes a 30-minute response time from activation/call to the hospital.

Requirements

  • Healthcare professional with appropriate education commensurate with clinical credential (i.e., Paramedic, LPN, CST, etc.) required.
  • 1 year of Critical Care experience in ICU or the Emergency Department preferred, but not required.
  • Prefer one (1) year of hospital clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency in Critical Care.
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Completion of one hour of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through CCI or Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI) through ARRT preferred.
  • Knowledge in sterile technique and ability to demonstrate The Association of Peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN) sterile technique guidelines.
