About The Position

The Procedural Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for their patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee. This role is only to be used in specific procedural departments as determined by the Office of the CNO.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
  • 2 Years of Experience.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards.
  • Identify and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate the nursing plan of care.
  • Modify plan to meet clinical outcomes.
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Support evidence-based practice changes through research utilization.
  • Create a compassionate, supportive, safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Manage emotional and physical pain to promote comfort and healing.
  • Recognize and incorporate unique differences of patients and families into care.
  • Preserve and protect patient confidentiality, autonomy, dignity and rights.
  • Facilitate learning for patients, families, and nursing staff.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and community to implement care plans.
  • Use strategies and resources for problem-solving in patient care.
  • Participate in shared governance and decision-making processes.
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth and community service.
