The Woodlands Fire Department is now accepting applications for the position of Probationary Firefighter. Performs firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical services duties as required to protect the lives and property of residents. Major elements of a Firefighter's work are the participation in supervised drills and training in firefighting and EMS skills. Some time is spent in special and routine maintenance of equipment and apparatus and routine care of buildings and grounds, as well as public education activities. The Firefighter exam will fill vacant positions with an anticipated start date in March 2026 and create an eligibility list for future vacancies. A written general knowledge test and physical ability test (PAT) will be administered on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 thru Saturday, February 7, 2026. Upon completion of your application, you will select the date and time for testing. You will take two tests on the same day - the written exam and the Physical Ability Test (PAT). First you will take the written. Upon passing the written exam (score of 70 percent or higher), you will move directly onto the PAT, located outside the main building. There is not an option to schedule the PAT for another time or on a different day. Please bring or wear athletic clothing appropriate for exercising, non-cleated athletic shoes. In person interviews will be conducted the week of February 23, 2026. You will be contacted directly if selected for an interview. A physical, including drug screen and extensive background check will be completed prior to employment.
