About The Position
There is a vacancy for a Probation Officer position with Yakima County District Court - Mental Health Supervision Unit. Probation Officers on the team are responsible for supervising clients who have a diagnosed mental illness, inclusive of those who are challenged with a co-occurring disorder. The clients will have many conditions placed on them from the sentencing court; however, they all will have a requirement of treatment for mental illness and, in some instances, drug treatment. The Probation Officer assigned to this team will be assigned a small manageable caseload to allow for meaningful and interactive supervision and case management. It will be the Probation Officer's responsibility to develop a case plan, identify challenges or barriers, and determine possible solutions. The Probation Officer will work with the client to identify and meet their needs to ensure the greatest opportunity for successful completion of probation. This will require that the Probation Officer not only supervise the client but also advocate for them where appropriate and needed among the various systems in which the client interacts.
