The Delaware County Juvenile Court is seeking a full-time Probation Officer responsible for supervising and managing juveniles placed on probation. This role involves developing, coordinating, and enforcing case management and treatment plans, ensuring compliance with probation conditions, and providing crisis intervention as needed.

  • Manage a caseload of adjudicated delinquent/unruly/traffic offenders from arraignment to termination.
  • Supervise youths through office, home, and school visits, monitoring treatment program requirements.
  • Conduct searches, arrests, and escort youth detainees.
  • Provide crisis intervention for clients during and outside normal business hours, including weekends.
  • Respond to calls from law enforcement personnel/agencies, including after-hours and weekend calls.
  • Determine official actions on police, school, or family reports for youths on probation.
  • Administer drug screenings/tests.
  • Transport juveniles to appropriate placements and appointments.
  • Formulate and monitor treatment plans with goals and objectives within probation conditions.
  • Organize and maintain records of case notes.
  • Bachelor's Degree in criminology, criminal justice, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a juvenile justice setting.
  • Ability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of computers and related software systems, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain objectivity.
  • Knowledge of crisis management and intervention skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of the Juvenile Justice System and the Ohio Revised Code.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and schedule tasks.
  • Ability to interpret laws and policies and apply them to treatment methods.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with an acceptable criminal and driving record.
