The Probation Officers perform professional case management work in supervising adult defendants who commit misdemeanor and criminal traffic offenses. Additionally, Probation Officers may supervise juveniles who are sentenced to probation for a criminal traffic offense. Probation provides an alternative to incarceration, and Probation Officers provide protection for the public by supervising and monitoring defendants placed on probation. Probation supervision includes providing leadership and direction to the probationers. The incumbents exercise independent judgment and initiative within their scope of authority. Work is performed in accordance with Court orders and directives from Judges and is subject to administrative direction. Probation Officers complete PSIs as required.
