The Probation Officer position contributes to the agency's public safety mission by providing supervision and monitoring of probationers from Courts and the Parole Board in accordance with DOC standards. The role aims to enhance public safety through supervision, follow-up, and the use of community resources, and commitment or re-commitment if necessary. The position provides day-to-day supervision to probationers who require both intensive and regular probation/parole/post-release supervision. It involves assessing the criminogenic and treatment needs of the probationer, actively applying evidence-based practices, and collaborating with probationers, district, and community resources to develop and manage individualized treatment plans. The officer is also responsible for making home and community contacts, preparing pre-sentence investigations, and testifying in court as needed.
