About The Position

The City of Topeka is seeking a service-minded individual to serve as a Probation Officer in the Municipal Court. This position is responsible for supervising and assisting clients who have been convicted of a misdemeanor offense and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in corrections, criminology, psychology, social work or closely related field is required.
• Must pass an extensive background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Provide case supervision for adults in office or via telephone and enforce court-ordered conditions.
• Observe drug and alcohol test screenings.
• Gather, verify and document information after each interaction with clients. Submits affidavits or verified statements to the court as needed.
• Assist clients in seeking services such as vocational training, employment, substance usage treatment, mental health services and any other community resources to help with basic needs.
• Participate in organizational meetings, court hearings and training as required.
