About The Position

The Probation and Parole Supervisor for Adults is responsible for overseeing and supervising Probation and Parole Officers and Specialists within the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. This role involves ensuring the effective delivery of probation, parole, and related services, while also providing guidance, technical assistance, and training to subordinate personnel. The supervisor will manage casework activities, coordinate with various agencies, and ensure compliance with legal and operational standards.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in adult probation and parole.
  • Six years of full-time work experience in any field may substitute for the required degree.
  • Candidates may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the degree, with specific hour requirements outlined.
  • Graduate training in relevant fields may substitute for a maximum of one year of required experience.
  • Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Willingness and ability to handle and carry firearms.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance to Probation and Parole Officers and Specialists.
  • Conduct periodic audits and reviews to ensure accuracy and legal compliance in casework.
  • Coordinate activities related to the violation process, including planning arrests and revocation hearings.
  • Monitor casework activities to ensure proper use of community resources and enforcement of conditions.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and in-service training for field personnel.
  • Assist in personnel management, including selection processes and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage statistical and administrative functions as delegated by the Probation and Parole District Manager.
  • Serve as the district's American Correctional Association (ACA) coordinator and maintain certification.
  • Conduct disciplinary hearings for adult inmates in Community Rehabilitation Centers (CRC).
  • Monitor compliance with the district's Sex Offender Program.
