About The Position

The State of Vermont is seeking conscientious and self-motivated individuals for the role of Probation and Parole Officer I or II. This position requires the ability to think quickly in a fast-paced environment, maintain ethical boundaries, and effectively communicate within a team. Officers will engage with potentially dangerous clients and must possess strong writing, time management, organizational, and observation skills. The role involves both office and field work, with a schedule primarily from Monday to Friday, but may require evening and weekend hours.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Associate's degree with one year of experience in corrections, human services, military service, or law enforcement.
• High School diploma with two years of relevant experience.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in social work, criminal justice, human services, psychology, or a related discipline.
• Prior experience in corrections, law enforcement, or military service.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise probation and parole clients in the community.
• Conduct assessments and develop case plans for clients.
• Maintain professional rapport with local law enforcement and community partners.
• Document case notes and prepare reports on client progress.
• Attend court hearings and community meetings as required.
• Provide support and intervention strategies for clients in need.
