About The Position

The Probation and Parole District Manager B--Adult is responsible for managing a large-sized Adult Probation and Parole Office, overseeing the supervision and investigatory efforts of professional personnel who deliver probation, parole, pardon, work release, and Community Residential Center (CRC) services. This role involves directing a professional staff, coordinating activities, and ensuring compliance with legal mandates and policies.

Requirements

• A baccalaureate degree plus four years of professional level experience in adult probation and parole.
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field may substitute for the required degree.
• Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment.
• Willingness and ability to handle and carry firearms.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate training in corrections, criminology, criminal justice, counseling, penology, psychology or social work may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a large professional staff of Probation and Parole Officers-Adult.
• Screen and hire district office personnel and select personnel for promotions.
• Coordinate training for staff.
• Develop systems and procedures for equitable workload distribution.
• Assign caseloads and investigations to subordinate staff.
• Manage activities related to the violation process, including arrests and preliminary hearings.
• Counsel and direct staff regarding legal mandates of their work.
• Maintain contacts with law enforcement and treatment facility officials.
• Serve as a liaison for problem resolution and service coordination.
• Formulate and disseminate policies and procedures affecting district activities.
• Conduct audits and monitoring for compliance with standards.
