About The Position

The University of Oregon’s InfoGraphics Lab seeks to create a pool of qualified candidates to fill periodic vacancies for temporary research and project management positions to contribute to interdisciplinary research projects with specialized technical or domain-specific requirements. All positions would be funding contingent, part-time, temporary assignments with an appointment of up to one year, but with the possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years depending on need, funding and/or performance. Appointments include conducting research or project management under the direction of a faculty member. Examples of current and past projects can be found at http://infographics.uoregon.edu/ .

Requirements

  • To qualify for Research Assistant (Type B): Bachelor's degree in spatial or design field Two years’ professional experience working with geospatial and/or design technologies
  • To qualify for Research Assistant (Type C): Master's degree in spatial or design field
  • To qualify for Research Associate or Postdoctoral Scholar: Ph.D in spatial, design, or related field
  • Commitment to working effectively with a team students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds and across a range of disciplines.
  • Strong background in design, cartography, data visualization, data wrangling, GIS, programming, and/or web development.
  • Ability to think creatively, solve problems, and work well in a diverse, collaborative setting.
  • Ability to use software programs that support this work such as Esri’s ArcGIS suite, Adobe Creative suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), R, and/or Python.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Esri’s ArcGIS suite, Adobe Creative suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), R, Python, and other software is highly desired.
  • Previous experience in web programming, HTML, CSS, D3, Leaflet, Mapbox.
  • Research and teaching experience.
  • Strong interest in contributing to the development of the Lab’s mission.
