About The Position
As a Pro Bono Counsel - International at DLA Piper, you will play a pivotal role in supporting New Perimeter, the firm's nonprofit affiliate dedicated to global pro bono initiatives. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and manage long-term pro bono projects across various developing regions worldwide. This position is integral to advancing justice and strengthening institutions, aligning with New Perimeter's mission to foster a fairer, more sustainable, and prosperous world. You will collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including non-profit organizations, multilateral institutions, academic institutions, and government entities, to create impactful projects that address critical issues such as women's advancement, climate protection, access to justice, and social and economic development. In this role, you will also be responsible for recruiting and managing international teams of DLA Piper lawyers who will work on these pro bono projects. You will help shape the strategic direction of the New Perimeter program in close collaboration with its Directors, ensuring that the projects align with the organization's goals and objectives. Additionally, you will conduct comparative international legal research, perform due diligence to understand clients' needs, and manage any internal conflicts that may arise. Your international travel will be necessary to oversee these projects effectively, and you will also support collaborative pro bono initiatives with key corporate clients of DLA Piper. Your role will involve drafting and editing marketing materials, including newsletters and brochures, and representing the firm at various internal and external events to enhance the visibility and awareness of New Perimeter's mission. This position requires a commitment to excellence and the ability to engage in meaningful work that contributes to the greater good.
