About The Position

PRIMARY DUTIES: Leadership, Training, and Teamwork: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to technicians, and support personnel. Strive to improve team and patient satisfaction. Patient Care: Provide counseling to patients regarding their medications, including proper use, side effects, and potential interactions. Offer medication therapy management and patient education as needed. Act as an advocate for the Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you (AIDET) framework, fostering an environment of outstanding service excellence within our team and enhancing patient experiences. Review prescriptions for therapeutic appropriateness, duplications, interactions, overall safety and efficacy. Proficiently review drug interactions by performing drug utilization reviews. Regulatory Compliance and Continuous Improvement: Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations. Enforces the formulary system and follows departmental policy and procedure when acquisition of non-formulary products is deemed necessary. Assist in investigating and correcting discrepancies and unusual usage patterns and trends. Stay informed about emerging trends and developments in pharmacy practice and healthcare delivery. Empathy and Compassion: Display empathy and compassion for your patients and colleagues. Collaboration: Seek new ways to grow, collaborate with others and deliver better health outcomes for our patients. Actively contribute to the Waco Family Medicine – Pharmacy team culture. Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to optimize patient care, resolve medication related issues, and ensure coordinated treatment plans. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care. Communicate drug information (verbally and in writing) to physicians, nurses, etc. in a courteous and professional manner. ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS: This position is PRN (As Needed), and hours will vary based on the needs of the pharmacy. The PRN Pharmacist will be expected to provide coverage for shifts as needed, ensuring pharmacy operations continue smoothly and efficiently. Flexibility is expected as this role will help fill immediate needs, often on short notice, to assist with pharmacy operations across our sites. OTHER DUTIES: Other duties as assigned by Director of Pharmacy Services and Associate Director of Pharmacy Services. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Visual and auditory accuracy Shift length - 8 hours Indoor setting Continuous use of computer Long periods of standing and/or sitting Frequent use of telephone Continuous repetitive grasping and manipulation of both hands Continuous conversational communication Occasional reaching, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting and climbing Occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs. Occasionally working in confined, noisy, dusty areas Understand and execute simple and detailed, oral and written instructions. Memorize and retain instructions Read and interpret detailed specifications

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
  • Valid pharmacist license in the State of Texas with good standing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required prior to or after start date.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibits excellent teamwork and communication skills between providers, staff, and patients.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
