Mercy Hospital’s 7M Medical Telemetry Unit cares for a diverse population of patients ranging from ages 18 to 100+ years old. This unit cares for patients who have peg tubes, foley catheters, central lines and tracheostomies, are post-heart catheterization, require wound care, have drug and alcohol addictions or have mental illnesses and are waiting for placement at a psychiatric facility. Minimal bedside procedures are done on this unit, but caregivers occasionally see fluid aspiration from joints and incision/drainage of small skin abscesses. As an RN on this team, you will assist your fellow caregivers in ensuring these patients feel comfortable, safe and supported while receiving or awaiting treatment. Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00PM – 7:30AM, including every weekend and rotating holidays.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience
Internal applicants: less than two years’ experience but post orientation/90-day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
Will consider licensed military RN experience
