Akron General’s 4100 Cardiac Telemetry/Renal Unit cares for patients with conditions such as CHF, ESRD, cardiac arrythmia, acute coronary syndrome and multiple other comorbidities, and performs peritoneal dialysis. This unit gets many ICU transfers and requires caregivers who are seeking to work with complex cardiac patients. As an RN on this team, you will ensure these patients feel comfortable and safe throughout their treatment. You will gain extensive hands-on experience in a fast-paced, encouraging environment, offering a unique opportunity to either advance a new nursing career or enhance your current skillset. How You’ll Benefit Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities. We’re dedicated to providing what matters most to you. Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00AM – 7:30PM or 7:00AM – 3:30PM. This caregiver will be required to work 48 hours per 6-week period, including one holiday and one weekend.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience
  • Internal applicants: less than two years of experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicants
  • Will consider licensed military RN experience

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
