About The Position

The PRN/Relief Nurse at Washington and Lee University is a vital healthcare provider responsible for nursing assessments, direct nursing care, and accurate medical record documentation for students at the Student Health Center. This role operates on a PRN/Relief basis, covering shifts as needed, particularly during clinical work hours when additional coverage is required. Requirements

• Current R.N. licensure for nursing practice in Virginia.
• Current CPR certification.
• Relevant clinical experience and knowledge of current healthcare practices.
• Dedication to continuing professional education.
• Ability to work independently with on-call physician/counselor backup.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and excellent clinical and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a college health setting.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments and provide direct nursing care to students at the Student Health Center.
• Assist physicians and physician assistants during scheduled appointment hours and ensure follow-through on evaluation and treatment orders.
• Document medical records accurately for all students cared for in the Student Health Center.
• Maintain supplies, records, and facility operations in collaboration with other nursing and administrative staff.
• Provide assistance to students with meals and carry out evaluation and treatment orders as needed.
