Under general direction of the Manager, Director or Lead Techs the radiology transporter will provide care and transportation to patients for exams in all radiology modalities. This includes communication with nursing and patient technician staff on the floor to determine transport mode for patients, handoff communication with technologists regarding patient and any special needs/concerns, and assisting technologists in getting patients on and off the imaging table. The role also involves cleaning and maintaining transport equipment and oxygen tanks for the department, as well as assisting with imaging procedures when necessary.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Patient Care Technician experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care and transportation to patients for exams in all radiology modalities.
  • Communicate with nursing and patient technician staff to determine transport mode for patients.
  • Perform handoff communication with technologists regarding patient and any special needs/concerns.
  • Assist technologists in getting patients on and off imaging table.
  • Clean and maintain transport equipment and oxygen tanks for the department.
  • Clean and disinfect wheelchairs and carts.
  • Maintain a maximum of 12 oxygen tanks in the department at any given time.
  • Use AIDET communication at all times.
  • Assist technologists with imaging procedures when necessary.
  • Process imaging plate and assist with holding patients.
  • Stay with patients while technologist reviews images.
  • Perform clerical tasks including answering phone and possibly assisting at the front desk.
  • Provide care for patients of all ages from birth to geriatric.
