About The Position

Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents, located in New Kent, Virginia, provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, rehabilitative, and educational services for children and adolescents ages 2 through 22 who are challenged by co-occurring medical and behavioral diagnoses. Cumberland Hospital is one of the few specialty children’s hospitals providing dual treatment protocols for both medical and mental health issues. Cumberland includes a 62-bed Hospital Program, a 16-bed Inpatient Acute Program, and 30-bed Residential Treatment Program. Our goal is to stabilize medical problems and help children develop positive behavioral coping strategies using an interdisciplinary approach. Requirements

  • BSN required, MSN preferred
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Current HWC and CPR certifications
  • Minimum of 4 years in a behavioral health setting and one year supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide training and education
  • Working knowledge of JC standards, OSHA and Commonwealth of Virginia requirements for employee training and education
  • Hired candidates must be able to commit to a 2-week new employee orientation, approx. 8:00am-4:30pm each day, Monday-Friday

Responsibilities

  • Supervises patient and staff activities on a hospital-wide basis assuring provision of quality care and a safe, therapeutic environment
  • Serves as administrative presence on alternative shift providing liaison activities as appropriate
  • Coordinates activities in emergency or unusual circumstances assuring continuity and appropriate functioning of operations
  • The Administrative Supervisor shall provide and encourage participation in staff education programs
  • Communicates with unit and service coordinators to assure consistency and continuity in maintaining hospital standards
  • Fulfills responsibilities to the hospital in adherence to philosophy and general policy.
  • Works collaboratively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Establish, manage and monitor safety standards, processes, communications, training and systems for employees
  • Other duties as assigned
