About The Position

Quality Staffing, Inc., also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search, a leading full-service employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the area's top companies, is looking for an experienced PRN Licensed Practical Nurse to work through our agency as a contract employee for the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TN DHS) located in Smyrna, Tennessee . This is an every other weekend shift working Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm and the pay rate for this position is $32.00 per hour . PRN LPN Job Description: The PRN LPN assists in the day-to-day functions within the campus First Aid Center as well as providing person-centered education to students to promote individual independence. The PRN LPN reports to the First Aid Center RN and is responsible for performing nursing tasks such as medication observation, treatments, documentation within the student's health record, and providing care to individuals with physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities. The PRN LPN reports to the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center on a schedule which includes nights and weekends. This position is an ongoing need with no planned end date.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a practical nurse in the state of Tennessee
  • Possess knowledge of basic laboratory practices
  • Effective communication and listening skills
  • Ability to provide clear, concise information in a classroom setting
  • Basic knowledge of electronic data usage
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills
  • Basic skills using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Assessing students at the First Aid Center with a triage approach
  • Recording vital signs
  • Observing students self-administering medications and documenting progress
  • Overseeing the medication observation process
  • Performing treatments as ordered by providers
  • Responding to medical emergencies on campus
  • Documenting essential findings in the student's medical record
  • Collaborating with other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Attending meetings as requested
  • Adhering to established protocols and procedures
  • Working with a variety of students who have physical, mental, and developmental disabilities
  • Administering nursing care in a school-based setting
  • Managing supplies and inventory in a fiscally responsible way
  • Possessing the ability to initiate tasks autonomously when needed
  • On time for shifts and reliability
  • Presenting to customers in a cheerful, positive manner
  • Assisting with ADLs as needed
  • Possessing knowledge of adaptive equipment
