About The Position

This PRN position supports Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Bethesda. The office is open Monday-Friday, 8a-5p, no weekends or holidays! PRN RNs receive an additional $2.25 differential. RNs with an active OCN will also receive an additional $2.25! Prior Oncology experience required.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of employment, with experience in IV therapy.
  • Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital is required.
  • Ability to assess patient needs and conditions is essential.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Current CPR & BLS certifications are required.
  • Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills is required.
  • Valid Driver's license, in state of residency, for travel to clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents to patients as ordered by Company physicians, using ONS standards and guidelines.
  • Responsible for ongoing patient assessment.
  • Thorough and accurate documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered to patients, ensuring appropriate charges are captured.
  • Follow the Company's I.D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter.
  • Act as moderator/instructor for chemotherapy classes as needed, educating patients and families about medications, side effects, and planned treatment course.
  • Telephone triage, prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices.
  • Assist with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, recommending purchase of new items as needed.
  • Have working knowledge of dispensing medications via Nucleus, performing cycle count, and restocking medications.
  • Attend annual Safety / OSHA training meetings and all mandatory staff meetings.
  • Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
  • Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
  • Work at any Company location to help meet the Company's business needs.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient's rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law.
