About The Position

The position involves maintaining a professional image and exhibiting excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. The role requires providing quality classes by preparing in advance, ensuring classes adhere to center policies, and managing music cues. The instructor must demonstrate creative choreography, teach without notes, and utilize both visual and auditory cues. Responsibilities include maintaining attendance records, promoting MHFC programs, and ensuring a safe and orderly exercise environment. The instructor is expected to act professionally, listen to member concerns, and maintain a neat exercise space. Additional duties include monitoring clients, reporting incidents, participating in training, and promoting the class schedule.

Requirements

  • General computer keyboard typing skills preferred.
  • Competent knowledge of exercise principles, health risks, and fitness program design.
  • Excellent communication, motivational, coaching, and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Provides a quality class by beginning and ending on time, preparing class in advance, and having music cued prior to class.
  • Creates motivating and modifiable choreography that is taught on the phrase of the music.
  • Teaches without the use of notes and knows the routine.
  • Utilizes both visual and auditory cues during instruction.
  • Shows intensity and safety modifications throughout the class.
  • Instructs participants on safe and proper form, making corrections and providing positive feedback.
  • Maintains thorough, accurate, and current attendance records.
  • Promotes MHFC programs whenever appropriate.
  • Follows dress code and maintains a professional image.
  • Exhibits good listening skills and problem solves professionally.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly exercise environment and returns equipment to storage.
  • Communicates client special needs to the Group Fitness Manager.
  • Refers to appropriate resources when needed and does not offer advice outside own expertise.
  • Is able and willing to teach all formats.
  • Acts as a role model of health and fitness.
  • Maintains Aerobics Certification from a recognized organization.
  • Ensures compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Attends CPR practice sessions and staff training.
  • Monitors clients' intensity using RPE or target heart rate.
  • Reports incidents or injuries using proper forms.
  • Participates in staff meetings and training.
  • Clocks in and out using the timekeeping system.
  • Promotes the class schedule and encourages cross-training.
  • Interacts positively with staff members.
  • Contributes new ideas and suggestions.
  • Assists with class surveys and ensures proper class coverage.
  • Teaches additional classes when necessary.
  • Participates in department and Center events.
  • Makes class announcements as requested.
