About The Position

The position is for a PRN Float CT Technologist in Birmingham, AL, with varying shifts Monday-Friday and occasional Saturdays. As a registered CT Technologist, you will perform high quality scans while providing excellent customer care and service to patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of approved program for Radiological Technology.
  • ARRT and CT Registry required.
  • Current BLS/CPR training.
  • CT scanner operation and training.
  • CT anatomy and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of operation system of CT scanner, RIS and PACS.
  • Basic proficiency with computer monitors, keyboard and mouse for scanning, RIS and PACS use.
  • Organized, detail oriented, observant.
  • Calm and effective communicator.
  • Helpful, patient and sympathetic.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT examinations as ordered and accurately critique images to ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Choose appropriate protocol and technical factors according to age, size and symptoms of patient.
  • Provide thorough explanation of procedure to the patient, anticipating and responding to patients’ needs and questions.
  • Position patients appropriately for ordered exam and assist patients on/off examination table as needed.
  • Monitor patients during exam.
  • Verify patient information and obtain comprehensive medical history including any related prior studies.
  • Obtain consent for administration of IV contrast and follow established practices to provide treatment, documentation and follow-up in the case of any adverse effects of IV contrast administration.
  • Perform venipuncture for administration of IV contrast.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media according to established practices.
  • Utilize scanner within manufacture guidelines and take appropriate action for service as needed.
  • Utilize PACS and RIS for image processing and accurate documentation.
  • Maintain clear and safe environment, which includes preparing room for each patient.
  • Perform daily and monthly QA procedures on scanner.
  • Follow ALARA principles, Image Gently and Image Wisely to insure safe radiation practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and Corporate Compliance regulations.
  • Initiate basic life support actions when necessary.
  • Use infection control practices.
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
  • All other duties as assigned.
