About The Position
The Echo Tech (Cardiac Sonographer) at Wellstar Paulding Hospital is a vital role responsible for performing a variety of cardiac imaging procedures, including adult, pediatric, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms. This position operates under the guidance of the Manager or Chief Technologist and is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of all patients within the Echo department. The Echo Tech must possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and the healthcare team, providing clear explanations of procedures and addressing any concerns or contraindications prior to examinations. In addition to performing echocardiograms, the Echo Tech is responsible for conducting measurements and calculations according to laboratory protocols, and providing preliminary findings to the interpreting physician. The role also includes the administration of Ultrasound Image Enhancing Agents and saline bubble studies when required. The Echo Tech must be available for on-call duties and may be required to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. The position demands a high level of technical skill, including the ability to adjust imaging techniques to minimize radiation exposure while maintaining image quality. The Echo Tech is also responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control policies, and reporting any equipment malfunctions promptly. Patient care responsibilities include verifying clinician orders, obtaining clinical histories, and ensuring proper patient identification and comfort throughout the imaging process. The Echo Tech must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of vascular ultrasound and maintain a high standard of quality control in imaging procedures.
