About The Position

The PRN Dispensing Pharmacist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications to our residents. This position requires a licensed pharmacist with strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care. This is a PRN (as-needed) position. Our pharmacy operates Monday - Saturday, 8:00am - approximately 9pm. Shifts may fall within this timeframe.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain any and all necessary active and unencumbered certifications, degrees, or licenses in the necessary state, to the extent the position requires such certifications, degrees, or licenses.
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers, personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understandably write the English language.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with customers, residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this company, which include a medical and physical examination if the position requires.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) and possess a valid Tennessee pharmacist license.
  • Prior experience working as a pharmacist with a good understanding of pharmacy operations and dispensing procedures. Long-Term Care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Medication Dispensing and Verification: Accurately dispense medications according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Conduct thorough medication reviews to identify any potential interactions or contraindications.
  • Clinical Consultation: Provide clinical expertise to the healthcare team, offering guidance on appropriate medication selection, dosage adjustments, and therapeutic alternatives.
  • Medication Management: Oversee the medication administration process, ensuring residents receive their medications in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to address any concerns or questions related to medications.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations governing the practice of pharmacy in a skilled nursing facility.
  • Stay updated on changes in pharmacy laws and regulations that may impact the facility.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of medication records and processes to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Implement corrective actions and improvements as needed.
  • Pharmacy Operations: Manage inventory levels, order medications and supplies, and conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with storage and handling requirements.
  • Collaborative Care: Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication regimens, address therapeutic concerns, and participate in interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Adverse Event Reporting: Promptly report any adverse drug reactions or medication errors and take appropriate action to prevent reoccurrence.
