About The Position

The PRN Athletic Trainer will demonstrate the ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including first aide) and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of certification. The PRN Athletic Trainers work as needed at local schools, and/or local athletic events.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters’ degree in athletic training.
  • Licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine.
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA-BOC).
  • The ability to lift up to 50lbs to assist with transferring patients using proper body mechanics.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Athletic Training is preferred.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of professional, collegiate, or high school sports.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes the mission and values of the organization.
  • Provide services directed toward achieving increased functional independence, decreasing functional limitations, and prevention of injuries to the individual patient/athlete.
  • Upon the advance advice and consent of a physician, carry out the practice of prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, disposition, treatment, and/or rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Perform evaluations of injuries, follow standing orders for treatment, management of the injury or refer the athlete to a physician.
  • Provide education in the prevention of injuries, conditioning, and rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Document evaluative findings, treatments that were administered, the patient assessment and the patient’s treatment plan.
  • Clean and maintain treatment area and work space.
  • Provide emergency care within the Athletic Training scope of practice.
  • Ability to work in a wide variety of settings.
  • Effectively communicate with the patient/athlete, family, physician, and/or coach regarding the patient/athlete`s injury and his/her ability to return to work/practice/competition.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Training Management Team.
