Position Summary The Private Wealth Management (PWM) group at Harris Associates is dedicated to providing personalized investment solutions for high-net-worth individuals, families, and related institutions. We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starter to provide support to the three teams within the department: Client Service, Portfolio Implementation, and Portfolio Management. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine curiosity about investing and finance, be eager to learn/ambitious, and demonstrate the ability to manage workloads from various teams. This 12-week internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of investment management and contribute to meaningful projects. Interns can expect a full-time, hybrid (minimum of 4 days in office) program for the summer designed to provide real-world experience. The intern will have high visibility into portfolio decision-making, trading, and compliance. The most successful interns proactively establish productive relationships with PWM team members.

Requirements

  • A current freshman or sophomore enrolled in a bachelor’s with a focus on finance, economics, business, or a related field.
  • Genuine interest in investing and finance, with a basic understanding of financial markets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily tasks for the Client Service and Portfolio Implementation team, including next-day trade checks.
  • Take ownership of a summer-long project to present at the end of the internship.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of procedures.
  • Attend weekly stock selection group (SSG) meetings where our analysts evaluate existing investments and introduce new ideas.
  • Other responsibilities will be assigned based on departmental needs and individual’s abilities.
