About The Position

We are seeking a caring, creative, and reliable private teacher/mentor to support a 9th grade student who is homeschooled. This role blends traditional academic guidance with practical life skills, hands-on learning, and fun educational experiences. The ideal candidate enjoys teaching, planning engaging activities, and helping a student grow both academically and personally.

Requirements

• Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring teens (formal teaching degree not required).
• Strong interest in both academics and hands-on/life skills learning.
• Ability to plan creative lessons and outings tailored to the student’s interests.
• Reliable transportation for outings and field trips.
• Responsible, patient, and positive role model.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support with homeschool assignments (9th grade level).
• Teach practical life skills, including: How to start and run a small business Budgeting, saving money, and using a checking account Basic cooking and meal preparation Home organization and cleaning skills
• Plan and lead enriching activities such as: Science experiments Museum visits, field trips, and nature/outdoor learning Volunteer opportunities and community involvement
• Encourage curiosity, independence, and confidence in learning.
• Communicate with parent to align on weekly goals and progress.
