About The Position

A professional, education-forward family in Arlington, VA, seeks a highly capable Private Educator / Governess to design and lead the academic development of their bright and thoughtful six-year-old son. This role is ideal for an experienced educator who thrives in a one-on-one, autonomous setting and is comfortable serving as the academic architect of a child’s day. The child works daily with a certified Orton-Gillingham specialist for 90 minutes, focused on structured literacy and foundational math. The selected educator will thoughtfully design and execute the remainder of the academic day across subjects, including Science, History, Social Studies, Art, Music, Physical Education, Project-Based & Experiential Learning. This is a long-term position within a fully staffed, professionally managed home. This is NOT a tutoring, nanny, or childcare position. The candidate MUST have home schooling experience, previous elementary educator or governess experience. This is a role within a private home environment. The child is a bright, curious, and sensitive six-year-old who thrives on predictability, calm structure, and thoughtful engagement.
