About The Position

Menchey Music Service, the area's largest family-owned music store, has over 80 studios throughout our 8 locations. We are always looking for qualified teachers to join our Menchey School of Music team. Due to fast pace growth, we have an opening for a private woodwind (clarinet / saxophone) teacher at our Gambrills location. This position requires teacher availability on a weekday evening beginning at 4pm or a 4hr block on Saturdays. Job Summary: As a private clarinet / saxophone teacher you will primarily offer 1 on 1 private clarinet, saxophone, or other woodwind lessons, and work with our amazing staff to foster a fun environment for students to discover their passion for music! You will be free to focus on developing your students individually while we advertise and support your studio’s growth.

Requirements

  • 2 years of college level music experience, 5 years of music teaching/performance experience, or a combination of both.
  • A bachelor's degree (or degree in progress) in music education or performance or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Experience working with youth and/or beginner musicians is preferred.
  • Specialty in one or more instruments
  • Possess a strong competency of music theory
  • Must pass an initial background check as well as recurring background checks, which will be completed every 3 years. Continued employment is contingent on clear background checks.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Teach music to students of all ability levels in a way that makes them excited to learn!
  • Communicate effectively with your students and their parents about their progress and needs to help them grow as musicians.
  • Work with our staff and community of musicians to build a lesson experience that goes beyond the practice room!
  • Use our online scheduler to track student attendance, assign practice, and keep track of your students’ progress.
  • Use provided payroll and human resource information system completing weekly timesheets and performing required training and compliance tasks.
