About The Position

This is a special opportunity for a grounded, talented Private Chef to join a kind, health -conscious family of four in Brooklyn Heights. With 9 -year -old twins and two busy parents, the household values warmth, consistency, and the simple joy of gathering around a delicious, nourishing meal. The family is seeking someone who brings not only culinary skill but also a calm, thoughtful presence—someone who intuitively understands how to support the rhythm of a home and create meals that align with their wellness -focused lifestyle. This is a role for a chef who cares deeply about quality, nutrition, and presentation, and who is excited about building a long -term partnership with a household that truly appreciates great food and the person behind it. You’ll work with autonomy and flexibility—designing menus that are gluten -free and dairy -free for one principal, and aligned with the household’s overall focus on high -protein, low -sugar, and healthy -carb eating. Meals should be vibrant, nourishing, and full of flavor. Whether it’s weeknight dinners, packing food for summer weekends at the Shore, or cooking during extended stays at the family’s Caribbean home, the heart of this role is about care, connection, and culinary excellence.

Requirements

  • A culinary professional with strong experience in health -conscious, whole -food cooking and 3+ years of private, single client work
  • Deep understanding of dietary restrictions (gluten -free, dairy -light, low sugar, etc.)
  • A kind, warm, and professional demeanor—someone who integrates naturally into a private home
  • Discreet, organized, and self -sufficient, with excellent time management and kitchen management skills
  • Flexible and comfortable with travel and schedule adjustments
  • Able to design creative, seasonal menus that evolve with the family's needs
  • Comfortable working around children and supporting the flow of a family household
  • Experience with kid -friendly meals that align with healthy household preferences
  • Strong interest in or knowledge of seasonal, local, and nutrient -dense ingredients
  • Ability to batch cook or prep meals for travel or busy weeks

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily dinners for a family of four, typically including: A salad course
  • A seasonal soup course (at times)
  • A health -forward main course
  • Generally no dessert
  • Prepare and/or leave lunch when parents are not home; serve lunch when they are. One child brings lunch to school each day
  • Prepare daily health snacks for when the kids return from school (and that can be packed for school the next day)
  • Ensure meals meet dietary needs and preferences (e.g., gluten -free, minimal dairy, low sugar, high protein)
  • Conduct thoughtful meal planning and grocery shopping with a focus on clean, high -quality ingredients
  • Maintain a well -organized, efficient, and spotless kitchen environment
  • Plan and prep food for travel, especially for summer weekends and beach days
  • Provide two weeks of continuous cooking support during the final two weeks of August at the Shore
  • Travel with the family for approximately 30 days/year to their Caribbean home, cooking all meals while there
  • Occasionally cook on weekends (advance notice provided)
