About The Position

The Set-Up Tech II plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal daily performance, operational efficiency, and consistent repeatability of Thermoformer and Extruder machinery within the Thermoforming manufacturing process. This position is responsible for accurate and efficient mold set-ups and machine start-ups to maintain high machine output and utilization. The Set-Up Tech II actively contributes to quality assurance by monitoring part quality, completing First Article forms, and implementing process adjustments to meet department KPIs. In addition to technical responsibilities, the role includes participation in packing, shrink wrapping, and assembly tasks, as well as collaboration across departments to support production goals. The ideal candidate is a reliable, safety-conscious team player who demonstrates accountability, follows all safety protocols, and aligns with company core values of Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service. This role also serves as a foundation for career advancement, with opportunities to develop skills in preparation for the Process Technician II role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to understand and apply documented run parameters for new and existing molds and materials.
  • Technical aptitude and hands-on experience in processing, setup, and troubleshooting of Thermoforming or extrusion equipment.
  • Proficiency in using AS400 and Mattec systems for daily data entry and transaction processing.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality and safety.
  • One or more years of relevant experience in manufacturing, preferably in thermoforming or related processes.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the organization, with potential for advancement to Process Technician II.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of Set-Up Tech I, including machine setup, start-up, and changeover procedures.
  • Monitor part quality and accurately complete First Article Inspection forms.
  • Manage material systems, including coordinating silo changes and ensuring material consistency.
  • Monitor mechanical systems for proper operation and proactively troubleshoot processing issues.
  • Track scrap levels and implement corrective process changes to meet department KPIs.
  • Execute and monitor production plans in alignment with scheduled priorities.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support production goals and operational efficiency.
  • Accurately record daily production data in AS400 and Mattec systems.
  • Maintain consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality to support department needs.
  • Comply with all safety procedures, wear required PPE, attend safety meetings, and report hazards.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by collaborating effectively, accepting feedback, and treating colleagues with respect.
  • Take ownership of work, accept accountability, and communicate project status proactively.
  • Adhere to all department quality standards and escalate concerns to immediate supervisor.
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to company culture and core values.
  • Understand and contribute to department KPIs, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Develop skills and knowledge required for the Process Technician II role.
