About The Position

The Prior Authorization Representative at Southwest General Health Center is responsible for reviewing patient accounts to determine the need for service authorizations. This role involves working closely with insurance companies and physician offices to secure necessary authorizations for outpatient services. The position is situated in a fast-paced office environment and includes responsibilities such as pre-registering patients, verifying insurance coverage, and providing education on third-party benefits. Additionally, the representative will mentor new team members and assist with auditing new hire workloads.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree accepted in lieu of one year of experience.
  • 2 years of experience in patient registration, scheduling, or related medical field using computers required.
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology is essential for success in this role.
  • CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) certification required, may obtain within 6 months of hire.
