About The Position

Reporting to the Printing Manager, the Printing Shift Supervisor is responsible for managing the production results for one shift in the printing department, ensuring that cost, quality and customer service meets business expectations and continuously improves. They are also responsible for contributing and ensuring that the working environment is one that is safe, fair, equitable and non-discriminatory. This is a 12-hour continental shift.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in manufacturing, business or related technical experience in packaging or related converting business preferred.
  • 5 – 10 years of leadership experience in progressive manufacturing environment(s).
  • Experience in a midsize to large manufacturing environment with fast paced made to order processes
  • Technical print experience, Dry offset printing(preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Work, Microsoft Office is necessary
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Processes, total quality, SPC, HACCP, SQF and GMPs
  • Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Job requires both office and plant exposure. Both areas are air conditioned and are subjected to high noise levels. From time to time, the position incumbent must be able to work for long periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve personnel issue
  • Lead Performance Improvement Process
  • Manage and reduce Absenteeism through follow up etc.
  • Manage Training Program and maintain Training Matrix
  • Ensure conformance to Standards of Conduct
  • Ensuring good employee relations on the shop floor by diligent communication and feedback
  • Ensure quality and schedule attainment requirements are met
  • Write storyboards and provide corrective actions for PQIs as assigned.
  • Ensure Productivity, Labor budget targets for the shift are met and exceeded.
  • Manage vacation planning to satisfy production needs, move TMs to manage labor
  • Improve Uptime and OEE metrics.
  • Manage Utility scanning, inventory levels and QSCOT
  • Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement results to all key areas, i.e., print quality, cost, reliability, flexible operations, safety housekeeping, yields (increase speeds), etc.
  • Lead and/or participate in improvements projects
  • Work in partnership with peers to implement process change and physical upgrades. Ensure new systems are properly commissioned and validated and SOPs are developed. Ensure Team Members are trained to support ongoing operations with high standards of quality, efficiency and flexibility
  • Aid in the development of performance metrics to help drive continuous improvement and implement change. Establish principles for accountability, constructive feedback and personal growth for all employees.
  • Create and update SOPs and related documents
  • Overlap with previous Shift Supervisor and report opportunities
  • Conduct formal communication sessions
  • Conduct daily audits
  • Conduct Cell Leader meetings
  • Collect data and submit daily production reports
  • Responsible for training Team Members on GMPs, Food Safety and Quality procedure
