Reporting directly to the supervisor, the Printing Press Operator will be responsible for set up and maintain printing presses to produce items consistent with customer specifications. Coordinate maintenance efforts with Shift Supervisor. Organize production run of customer orders to maximize efficiency.

Requirements

  • 1 – 2 years printing press experience in a manufacturing facility with a strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work orders and to perform basic mathematical functions required.
  • must be able to work any shift with overtime as required
  • Atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, etc. at times
  • Heavy work requires exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 70 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 40 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual acuity and color perception are necessary to distinguish color shades.

  • High school degree or equivalent education and/or training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up press ink stations.
  • Use correct plates, cutting dies, inks, substrates and all other materials as required.
  • Make necessary adjustments to obtain print consistency, quality and registration.
  • Check inks, plates, dies and other materials throughout the run to ensure quality.
  • Load material on press as needed.
  • Mix ink and match color to swatches.
  • Get signed approval of sample from supervisor.
  • Coordinate production runs with packers and raw materials handlers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspection on equipment
  • Assist other mechanics and operators as needed.
  • Inspect plates, dies and equipment, replenish materials as needed.
  • Check blower for scrap and bin changes.
  • Perform and understand duties of the Press-Packer Utility.
  • Assist Press-Packer Utility with daily activities.
  • Maintain safe, clean workplace to avoid injury.
  • Complete all forms.
  • Maintain records, samples, files, and/or logs as required.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
