About The Position

The Plant Electrical Engineer is responsible for maintaining and optimizing electrical systems to ensure reliable operation. This role involves collaborating with the Maintenance department to develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing repairs to minimize downtime. This role manages projects, maintains accurate electrical drawings, conducts inspections for safety and environmental compliance, and manages requisitions and budgets for electrical equipment procurement in addition to ensuring contractors adhere to site rules. As a Plant Electrical Engineer within the Engineering team, you will be a critical business partner for the MilliporeSigma Life Science Business, supporting the preparation and execution of strategic and tactical projects. You will be responsible for optimizing Electrical systems and troubleshooting issues to enhance efficiency, quality, and performance. This role provides day-to-day technical support, as well as execution of Capital Projects. Leveraging Six Sigma methodologies and data analytics, you will lead and coordinate process improvement projects to implement robust corrective and preventative solutions.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering; PMP certification preferred.
  • More than 4 years of professional experience.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated documentation skills.
  • Ability to walk, stand, reach above shoulders, use a cellular phone, operate equipment, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear, and use hands to operate tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and additional weight with assistance.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hardhat, safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, safety harness, and protective clothing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate company vehicles.
  • Must be able to work at varying heights.
  • Recent experience in a GMP production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and perform regular maintenance and optimization of electrical control systems within the plant to ensure reliable operation.
  • Work with the Maintenance department to schedule and oversee preventative maintenance activities for electrical systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues in electrical systems, implementing repairs as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, conducting necessary inspections and audits.
  • Manage and execute improvement projects within stipulated timeframes and budget constraints, ensuring they meet intended design specifications as per the capability of Project Excellence.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis and develop solutions for optimal performance, ensuring integration of new technologies and analytics tools as needed.
  • Develop and implement standardized procedures that facilitate easy maintenance, minimize downtime, and reduce maintenance costs based on the Design for Maintenance capability.
  • Contribute to the execution of the Life Science strategy and strive for technological advancement by evaluating effective, sustainable, and state-of-the-art solutions in line with applicable safety and quality requirements.
