About The Position

The Wilkes County Board of Education is seeking a Principal for the Primary School for the 2025-2026 school year, effective July 14, 2025. The position requires a valid Georgia Certification in Educational Leadership-Tier 2 and a minimum of three years of experience in public school administration, along with five years of successful experience as a classroom teacher. The Board may consider alternative qualifications as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and carries out policies of the Board of Education
  • Communicates effectively and appropriately within the school and community
  • Assists in the evaluation and development of curriculum, including special education, remedial education, and other instructional programs
  • Observes and evaluates the performance of employees
  • Supervises student and staff conduct and monitors their progress toward achieving specified goals
  • Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school and maintaining student discipline
  • Develops and maintains high morale in students and staff
  • Interviews and recommends applicants for employment according to federal, state, and county policies and procedures
  • Administers and improves the school program in compliance with all procedures, standards, and regulations
  • Establishes a school schedule that provides satisfactorily for not only the regular instructional program but also for other activities
  • Promotes professional growth of instructional personnel
  • Organizes and coordinates programs, tasks, and materials to enhance student learning and teacher effectiveness
  • Monitors student academic progress and maintains communications with parents about such progress
  • Organizes and manages meetings, conflicts, reports, and paperwork
  • Determines the validity and appropriateness of purchases
  • Demonstrates consistently appropriate fiscal management of funds for which they are responsible in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations
  • Establishes emergency preparedness programs and conducts drills related to the programs
  • Informs the superintendent and other central office personnel about activities and problems in the school
  • Completes reports accurately and punctually
  • Utilizes the services of system-wide personnel in an efficient manner
  • Promotes good attendance by students and staff
  • Performs such other duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the superintendent
