About The Position

Description Leadership and Management: Lead project teams to deliver high quality work on time and within budget Collaborate with other Principals and senior leaders on strategic initiatives. Mentor and coach staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Oversee staff professional development and succession planning within the Firm. Collaborate with other Principals on resource management, resource conflict resolution, and staffing needs. Assist in establishing the Annual Firm Budget including revenue targets and indirect expenses. Promote, cultivate and manage Practice Areas. Client and Business Development Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships. Elevate Beardsley’s visibility in the Capital Region through networking and community engagement. Solicit and develop relationships with potential new clients. Identify and pursue specific project prospect opportunities. Represent the Firm at industry events, conferences and networking opportunities to enhance its reputation and market presence. Design Excellence Provide design leadership and mentorship on projects, to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions. Oversee project design development from initial concepts through construction documentation, maintaining the Firm’s design standards. Ensure projects adhere to relevant codes, regulations and industry best practices. Promote a culture of design excellence within the Firm. Project Management Select Project Managers for specific projects and act as Project Manager for specific clients or projects. Negotiate fees with input of Project Managers and implement Firm risk management practices. Develop and sign contracts for professional services. Supervise the work of Project Managers on specific projects. Establish project schedule, budget, and scope of work with Project Managers. Monitor project design and construction with Project Managers. Provide quality control review and verify project checking before issuing Bid Documents. Authorize the placement of personal professional seal on Construction Documents when required. Certify project construction final requisitions, progress payments, and change orders.

Requirements

  • Professional degree in Architecture (B Arch or M Arch) from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 15 years of professional architectural experience.
  • Current Professional License in New York State, or ability to obtain reciprocity promptly.
  • Once eligibility requirements are met, becoming a shareholder of the Firm is required. Shareholders execute a shareholder agreement and an employment agreement with the Firm. The current average investment for Principals is $50,000 in shares within 5 years. Interest free financing is available through the Firm for this position.
