About The Position

The School Principal is the educational leader and chief administrator of the school. This position is responsible for overseeing the overall academic, administrative, and operational functions of the school. The Principal ensures that the school provides a safe, nurturing environment that promotes student learning, staff development, and community engagement. The Principal will lead by example, inspire excellence in teaching, and collaborate with various stakeholders to support student success. The Principal sets a clear vision for student achievements and establishes high expectations for all students and staff. The Principal fosters a safe, respectful, and collaborative school culture that supports student learning and adult development. The Principal ensures high-quality instruction through effective curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices. The Principal recruits, develops, supports, and retains effective educators and staff. The Principal manages school operations and resources to support student learning. The Principal demonstrates professionalism, ethical behavior, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education Administration, Leadership, or a related field.
  • Valid state certification as a School Principal or Administrator (or eligibility to obtain certification).
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership position (Assistant Principal or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of educational standards, curriculum development, and student assessment practices.
  • Proven leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, and school operations.
  • Ability to foster a positive school culture that encourages academic success and personal growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, communicates, and implements a clear, ambitious, and shared vision for learning that is focused on student achievement.
  • Establishes measurable school-wide goals aligned to district priorities and Louisiana Student Standards.
  • Uses multiple sources of data to create, implement, and monitor a strategic plan for continuous school improvement.
  • Aligns school priorities, initiatives, and resources to the school’s vision and goals.
  • Builds commitment among staff, students, families, and community stakeholders to achieve the school’s vision.
  • Represents the school effectively with district leadership, community organizations, and external partners.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe, orderly, and supportive learning environment for students and staff.
  • Builds a positive school culture characterized by trust, high expectations, and shared accountability for student success.
  • Creates systems and structures that promote positive behavior, attendance, and student engagement.
  • Facilitates collaboration among teachers and staff through professional learning communities and team structures.
  • Leads and participates in faculty meetings, school committees, and family and community engagement activities.
  • Promotes inclusive practices and a school climate that supports the academic, social, and emotional well-being of all students.
  • Collaborates with counselors and support staff to address students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Develops and implements strategies to improve student attendance, engagement, and achievement.
  • Observes classroom instruction regularly and provides timely, actionable feedback
  • Ensures curriculum implementation is aligned to Louisiana Student Standards and district expectations.
  • Ensures teachers develop and implement clear, measurable instructional objectives aligned to grade-level standards.
  • Ensures the use of rigorous assessments aligned to the depth and complexity of Louisiana Student Standards.
  • Uses student achievement data to monitor instructional effectiveness and guide instructional decision-making.
  • Oversees the implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies and targeted interventions.
  • Recruits, hires, and retains high-quality teachers and staff aligned to the school’s instructional priorities.
  • Provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to improve teacher and staff performance.
  • Supervises and evaluates teachers, administrators, and support staff in accordance with state and district requirements.
  • Develops staff capacity through targeted professional learning aligned to school goals and instructional needs.
  • Identifies and develops teacher leaders to build leadership capacity within the school.
  • Addresses performance concerns promptly and supports staff growth through improvement plans when necessary.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors the school budget to ensure resources are aligned to instructional priorities and student needs.
  • Establishes and maintains efficient systems for scheduling, staffing, and daily school operations.
  • Ensures the effective use of time, facilities, materials, and technology to support teaching and learning.
  • Maintains accurate records and ensures compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Ensures a safe, clean, and well-maintained school environment.
  • Develops and implements procedures to ensure operational continuity and crisis preparedness.
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of leadership.
  • Engages in ongoing self-reflection and professional learning aligned to leadership standards.
  • Builds and sustains productive relationships with families, staff, community members, and district partners.
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully with all stakeholders.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Models a commitment to equity, continuous improvement, and accountability for results.
