About The Position

The purpose of this job is to provide effective instructional leadership and school operations. Major responsibilities include instructional leadership, people centered management, organizational management, student development, facility maintenance and management, fiscal management activities, and developing effective community relations. Hixson High School is a 9-12 school located in Hixson, TN, just north of Chattanooga. The mission of Hixson High School is to provide an individualized, safe learning environment for all students to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially in order to be productive, global citizens. We have a collaborative culture committed to student achievement and teacher/staff development. We are proud to offer our students post-secondary pathways through three Future Ready Institutes: Institute of Business Leaders and Owners, CHI Memorial Institute of Healthcare and Medical Careers, and the Institute of Integrative Agriculture Sciences and Natural Resources. In addition, Hixson highlights the arts through our orchestra, concert and jazz bands, concert and show choir, drama, and award-winning visual arts program. Hixson has a plethora of advanced and extended learning opportunities to include: Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, and State Dual Credit courses. Additionally, Hixson High furthers its opportunities for students through its award winning JROTC Air Force. We are looking for teachers who are committed to children, who are able to connect and relate with a diverse student body, and who respect all cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Candidates should be competent in subject matter, willing to be pedagogically coached, and committed to being a team player.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and current valid Tennessee administrative license are required.
  • Successful classroom teaching experience and successful administrative experience are required.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.

  • Develop structures to actively involve families in the education of their children targeting academically focused engagement
