Historical Significance : Whitmore Elementary was founded in 1961, and it is named after Dr. William Vincent Whitmore, a prominent local physician who served on the Tucson school board for 12 years starting in 1908 and aided in organizing the Arizona Medical Association. W. V. Whitmore was an influential figure in early 20th-century Tucson, contributing to both local healthcare and educational development. Diversity : The student body is predominantly Hispanic (38.9%), proudly serving a student body that embodies the cultural heart and history of the Southwest.
