About The Position

The Primary School Principal is directly responsible for the following duties: Administration and supervision of programs, services and facilities of the school. Planning, coordination, implementation and improvement of the education program and assessment at the building level in collaboration with the district-wide administrative team. Evaluation of faculty and staff members. Coordinating the orientation and support for all new building personnel as well as new students and parents. Coordinating building and facility usage. Understanding education law, policies of the Board of Education and the District safety plan related to the management of the school including, but not limited to DASA, emergency procedures, and building/district Codes of Conduct. Coordinating professional meetings and conferences that pertain to the position. Assisting in the establishment of a positive building climate for the staff members, students, parents and community. Performing any additional duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Successful candidates must currently hold NYS certification in SDL, SAS or SBL.
  • A clear educational philosophy including appropriate classroom/student management strategies
  • Thorough understanding of school operations
  • Elementary classroom and/or administration experience
  • Ability to coordinate building/campus activities
  • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
