As a Principal Wireless Engineer II at Spectrum, you will be responsible for researching, architecting, developing, and supporting IoT and WiFi radios and functionality on residential WiFi access points. This role involves leading the development of system requirements, architecture, and validation test plans for carrier-grade IoT border routers and gateways, collaborating with various teams and partners to enhance wireless technologies and customer experiences.

  • Research, architect, develop, and evaluate IoT platforms and functions based on Thread, Matter, WiFi, and other wireless technologies.
  • Design and perform experiments to benchmark and characterize the performance of IoT and WiFi radios.
  • Provide recommendations to product development organizations to improve performance and user experience.
  • Contribute to intellectual property creation and patent filing.
  • 10+ years of experience in Technology Development & Management.
  • 5-7 years of technology management experience with top MSOs, Telco, satellite operators, or major wireless vendors in the U.S.
  • BSEE in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent; graduate degree preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in wireless access technologies including WiFi, IoT, and 4G-LTE; familiarity with 5G.
  • Hands-on experience with a broad range of wireless access technologies.
  • Competency with key networking elements such as routing, switching, and security.
  • Operational experience with WiFi, IoT, and 4G-LTE.
  • Expert level knowledge of 802.15.4 and Thread networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with multi-radio coexistence and IoT traffic prioritization.
  • Experience with matter smart home device solutions and certification.
  • Experience using IoT and/or WiFi development tools from major vendors.
  • Wide range knowledge about WiFi, IoT, and wireless standards.
  • Experience developing performance and functional test cases for systems.
