Our Shockwave Medical portfolio aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque. The Principal Ultrasound Acoustic Technician will use technical skills to support the development of innovative products to treat peripheral, coronary and heart valve diseases. The Principal Ultrasound Acoustic Technician will work directly with R&D technicians and engineers to support acoustic development, characterization of devices, and maintenance of the acoustics lab.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required with a minimum of 10+ years’ experience as an R&D technician (or relevant experience) in the medical device industry or Associate’s degree with 8 years’ experience in the medical device industry
  • Experience with technical data collection systems with computer interfaces
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work with custom software interfaces
  • Experience using electronic measurement tools (oscilloscopes, voltage probes, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft office
  • Ability to identify issues and assist with troubleshooting test and measurement systems
  • Strong attention to detail, observational, and documentation skills
  • Knowledge of the safe handling of sensitive electronic equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Employee may be required to lift objects up to 25lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of acoustics and properties of sound through education or professional experience is a plus
  • Experience in developing and using fixtures
  • Experience in ultrasound imaging and sensing is a plus
  • Previous catheter experience is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform acoustic measurements using data acquisition systems, hydrophones, high speed cameras, and other equipment using provided test methods and procedures.
  • Perform electrical rework for ultrasound development.
  • Assist in imaging characterization, metrology including 60601-2-27 testing.
  • Prepare data reports for associated metrology.
  • Prepare experimental setups including fixtures, oscilloscopes, electronic motion stages, and power supplies.
  • Perform data processing and report generation using established protocols.
  • Test, calibrate, and repair equipment to established standards.
  • Oversee the procurement, maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain inventory of test supplies and equipment within the engineering laboratory.
  • Maintain organized notebooks and records of experiments performed in the lab.
  • Identify issues as they arise and assist in troubleshooting of procedures and/or instruments
  • Lead and mentor other technicians to reach departmental and company objectives
  • Ensure safe laboratory standards and practices are maintained at all times.
  • Perform process related design tasks to support pilot manufacturing
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
