About The Position

The School Principal serves as the chief administrator of Turrentine Middle School, responsible for providing instructional leadership and ensuring the educational development of students and professional growth of staff. The principal supervises all personnel, facilities, and programs within the school, working collaboratively with stakeholders to create a safe and effective learning environment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in school administration.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a certified school staff member (e.g., Classroom teacher, Counselor, Social Worker).
  • NC Teacher's License in any applicable area.
  • NC Principal License, or eligible for certification.
  • Valid driver's license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • Served as an AP or Principal Intern in a public school.
  • Teaching and/or administrative experience at the applied school level.
  • Spanish Speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct all personnel, facilities, and programs in the assigned school.
  • Provide instructional leadership to school staff and promote the educational development of each student.
  • Ensure the school program aligns with legal, financial, and organizational structures.
  • Define staff responsibilities and develop plans for community engagement.
  • Implement effective discipline and attendance systems.
  • Ensure a safe and orderly environment that encourages student responsibility.
  • File reports regarding violence, vandalism, attendance, and discipline as required.
  • Facilitate professional growth of school staff and enhance instructional quality.
  • Identify annual objectives for instructional, extracurricular, and athletic programs.
  • Ensure adherence to the School Improvement Plan throughout the year.
  • Develop instructional objectives and detailed curriculum pacing guides.
  • Involve faculty in developing curricular objectives to meet school needs.
  • Evaluate student progress and maintain up-to-date student data.
  • Supervise and appraise staff performance through state-derived observation formulas.
  • Maintain communication with central office staff to improve performance.
  • Establish a professional rapport with students and staff to promote respect.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of any evidence of abuse or severe conditions.
  • Develop emergency procedures and conduct regular drills as required.
  • Orient and assist new staff and students, encouraging their input.
  • Encourage community resource use and maintain communication with community members.
  • Manage records regarding materials, supplies, and equipment for daily routines.
  • Involve staff in determining priorities for instructional supplies.
  • Organize and oversee services, supplies, and materials for the school program.
