About The Position

Kleinfelder's Southern California Area is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer to join our team! This position has the option of a hybrid work schedule and can be located in any of our offices throughout Southern California. The role of the Principal Transportation Engineer will serve in a management and/or lead technical role including the planning, analysis, design and detailing of transportation projects including roadways, bridges and transit facilities.

Requirements

  • Formal education in Civil or Structural engineering or related. An advanced degree, i.e. MS or PhD is preferred
  • 12+ years of progressively combined experience in design, project/program management, construction or project related experience, in the management of transportation projects and programs
  • Experience with alternative delivery including CMGC, Design-Build or Progressive Design Build projects is preferred
  • Demonstrated and recognized technical leader in the industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Function as a Project Manager or Engineering Lead with demonstrated success in client development, design and project oversight
  • Manage the project team for multi-discipline transportation projects including environmental, civil, bridge, survey, geotechnical and landscaping
  • Demonstrated experience in organization of staff and technical expertise to meet deadlines and budget requirements
  • Project engineering duties including, but not limited to performing roadway, highway or bridge engineering calculations, analysis and design and peer/constructability reviews
  • Lead QA/QC processes and assure quality products are delivered to the client
  • Actively contribute to projects by performing tasks requiring a broad and/or deep knowledge in the field of transportation engineering
  • Provide technical interface with clients and contractors
  • Develop technical talent including mentoring key staff in specialized area of expertise
  • Develop, establish, and oversee all aspects, including cost control and planning/scheduling efforts on multiple projects
  • Lead or participate in proposal writing, interview preparation and presentations
  • Effectively communicate technical and promotional material to staff, clients and sub-consultants
